Satán Salvador (Satan Savior)
Illustrations for the book «Satán Salvador», a short evangelical novel by Cristóbal Henestrosa, Mexican author, type and graphic designer. Inspired the engravings of Baldung, Merian, Cranach and Dürer, these illustrations were executed in the guise of Renaissance-era religious books. Type is also original, featuring Henestrosa’s Espinosa gothic type and my Darka, an original typeface design inspired in Bâtarde, Textura and Fraktur styles of calligraphy. Here I show the published illustrations, several previous thumbnail sketches and images of the final artwork accompanying the text.
